Aldi, the supermarket company, has decided not to advertise in the News of the World for the time being.
As I reported yesterday, it placed a full-page ad in the paper's Irish edition last Sunday. But an Aldi spokesperson called to say that it is now reviewing its options.
The spokesperson, clearly wishing to distance the company from the paper tainted by the phone-hacking scandal, then issued the following statement:
"Aldi has not advertised in the UK edition of the News of the World since 2010 and has no plans to advertise in the newspaper.
We are reviewing our advertising in the Irish edition and are not planning any future adverts in this newspaper pending the outcomes of the external investigations."
